Raptors' C.J. Miles: Pours in six treys Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/14/17) Miles scored 27 points (9-14 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 3-3 FT) while adding three rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes off the bench during Friday's preseason win over the Bulls.

Raptors coach Dwane Casey hasn't yet announced whether Miles or Normal Powell will be his starting small forward to begin the regular season, but Miles' dead-eye shooting Friday indicates he would be very comfortable as the top scoring option on the second unit. From a fantasy standpoint, Miles' value won't change much regardless of his role, as he should still see the same amount of court time and offer little more than three-point shooting and the occasional steal.

Raptors' C.J. Miles: Scores 19 points in 15 minutes

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/10/17) Miles managed 19 points (6-9 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds, one steal, and one block in 15 minutes during Tuesday's 116-94 win over the Pistons.

Miles made his mark on the game despite playing limited minutes, which likely bodes well for his role going forward. Still, Miles has never been a huge factor in fantasy, and he'll have plenty of competition for time given the deep Raptors roster. His upside is tied to his three-point shooting.

Raptors' C.J. Miles: Goes cold in Wednesday's preseason game

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/4/17) Miles posted three points (1-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal across 21 minutes during Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers.

Miles is in competition with Norman Powell for the starting small forward job and while he had a relatively solid performance in the team's preseason opener, he struggled mightily on Wednesday. Miles is heralded for his three-point prowess, but he knocked down just 1-of-6 attempts and shot just 12.5 percent from the field overall, so it was certainly a game to forget for Miles. That said, Powell had to sit the contest out with an ankle injury and his timetable for a return is unclear, so it may not have had a drastic impact on the ongoing competition. Don't be surprised if Powell gets a start or two once healthy if coach Dwane Casey wants to test out a few different lineups.

Raptors' C.J. Miles: Starting at small forward Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/1/17) Miles is starting at small forward in Sunday's preseason game against the Clippers, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports.

Miles is see as the leading candidate to start at small forward for the Raptors this season, and while coach Dwayne Casey did say that this isn't officially the team's starting unit, it can serve as an indicator for what is likely to come. Casey will evaluate this lineup throughout the preseason and likely make some changes, with Norman Powell also potentially getting an opportunity with the starting unit.

Raptors' C.J. Miles: Will compete for starting job

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/25/17) Raptors coach Dwane Casey said Monday that Miles will compete for a spot in the starting lineup, Blake Murphy of Raptors Republic reports.

The expectation was that Miles, who came over via trade from Indiana this summer, would slide in as the starting small forward after the Raptors parted ways with DeMarre Carroll, but Casey's comments imply that the veteran will compete with Norman Powell for the job. Regardless of who wins the spot, both players will be major factors in the rotation, and each could also see time at shooting guard when DeMar DeRozan is off the floor. In 76 games (29 starts) last season, Miles averaged 23.4 minutes per game, which he translated to averages of 10.7 points and 3.0 rebounds. Somewhat of a three-point specialist, Miles attempted 5.4 three-pointers per game, converting at a career-best 41.3 percent clip.
