Ravens catch Patriots by surprise

(1/20/13) After rolling past Houston last week, New England was likely under the impression it could dispatch Baltimore and its inconsistent offense to complete another march to the Super Bowl. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had other ideas and stunned the Patriots secondary for three touchdown passes in a 28-13 victory at New England in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. The Patriots failed to generate an interception on Flacco and mustered just two sacks as they allowed 21 unanswered points in the second half to seal the loss.

Patriots march past Texans

(1/13/13) For the second time this season, the New England defense held high-flying Houston to fewer than 30 points. This time, the impressive feat propelled the Patriots into the AFC Championship. The Patriots permitted just two field goals and a touchdown in the first half before surrendering two late scores in the fourth quarter en route to a 41-28 victory in their Divisional Playoff game Sunday. New England hurried Texans quarterback Matt Schaub for most of the game, and registered an interception and a sack during the contest.

Patriots shut down Dolphins

(12/30/12) The Patriots DST registered its first shutout of the season while limited the Dolphins to just 256 yards of total offense in Week 17. The unit held Miami to just 47 yards rushing as Reggie Bush was limited to just 26 yards on eight carries. New England also got after rookie Ryan Tannehill as Steve Gregory picked him off in the first quarter of the 28-0 win. The unit also forced a fumble and racked up a season-high seven sacks.

Patriots looking to stymie Dolphins

(12/26/12) The Patriots DST will be looking to slow down the Dolphins in Week 17. Miami enters the contest ranked 26th in total offense, averaging 315.2 yards and 19.2 points per game. The Patriots DST is ranked sixth, in terms of Fantasy points, after racking up 29 sacks and forcing 39 turnovers on the year. The unit has also accounted for seven touchdowns.

Patriots DST holds on late

(12/23/12) The Patriots DST had to hold on Sunday for a 23-16 win at Jacksonville. The Jaguars' offense gave the Patriots DST everything it could handle in the game. New England allowed Jacksonville to rack up 436 total yards of offense in the game as quarterback Chad Henne threw for 348 yards. That said, the Patriots DST did pick Henne off three times among three turnovers forced. The Patriots DST had just one sack in the game.
