Islanders' Jaroslav Halak: Struggles once again Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/20/17) Halak gave up four goals on 32 shots in Sunday's loss to Carolina.

Halak has been struggling of late and was outdueled by Canes backup netminder Cam Ward on Sunday. Halak has been sharing the crease with Thomas Greiss, but this recent stretch certainly isn't going to earn him additional crease time. The 32-year-old has given up at least four goals in three straight losses and seen his save percentage dip to an ugly .896 on the season. Halak's 5-5-0 record and inconsistent start to the year make him one to avoid right now.

Islanders' Jaroslav Halak: Stationed between pipes Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/19/17) Halak will be in net for Sunday's contest against the Hurricanes, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

The Islanders are still rolling with somewhat of a "goalie by committee" with Halak and Thomas Greiss. In his last start, Halak surrendered five goals on just 29 shots to Dallas. The 5-foot-11 netminder has allowed three or more goals in eight of his 10 appearances. Until one of the two New York goaltenders emerge as the favorite, they shouldn't be owned for fantasy purposes.

Islanders' Jaroslav Halak: Surrenders five in loss to Big D

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/10/17) Halak saved just 24 of 29 shots during Friday's 5-0 loss to the Stars.

Dallas jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, and with a 5-0 lead heading into the final frame, the Stars allowed just four shots on goal. Clearly, this was a poor effort from the Islanders, so it's difficult to throw too much blame on Halak. However, the veteran Czech has now allowed three goals or more in eight of nine starts this season, so he's probably best viewed as a risky option in the majority of settings.

Islanders' Jaroslav Halak: Between posts Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/10/17) Halak will patrol the crease Friday night against host Dallas, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Aside from switching out goalie Thomas Greiss, Islanders coach Doug Weight reportedly is going with the same lineup that only allowed two goals but took an overtime loss to Edmonton on Tuesday. Halak is 5-3-0 with a 2.82 GAA and .906 save percentage on the season -- those peripheral stats leave a lot to be desired, but at least the Czech tender has been finding ways to win.

Islanders' Jaroslav Halak: Makes only 15 saves in loss to Caps

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/2/17) Halak stopped just 15 of 19 shots during Thursday's 4-3 loss to Washington.

The 32-year-old Czech had won four consecutive games entering Thursday, so taking the loss here is less of a blow. However, even with five wins this year, his .906 save percentage and 2.83 GAA are still underwhelming marks. There is also a decent chance the Islanders are currently overachieving a bit. Halak is probably best viewed as a matchup-based option in most fantasy settings moving forward. Additionally, Thomas Greiss is going to continue to see somewhat regular work, which cuts into Halak's upside.
