Maple Leafs' Patrick Marleau: Snipes third goal of season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/15/17) Marleau scored his third goal of the season in Saturday's overtime win

The play was reviewed, but ultimately stood with the goal call on the ice. Marleau has five points in five games and is off to a fantastic start in blue and white. His chemistry with Nazem Kadri and Leo Komarov is starting to come together, which makes Marleau a desirable fantasy target.

Maple Leafs' Patrick Marleau: Scores first two goals in Leafs debut

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/4/17) Marleau scored twice Wednesday in a 7-2 win over Winnipeg.

Nice debut. Marleau looked completely comfortable in blue and white, and it showed on the scoresheet. He now has 510 goals and 1,084 points in 1,495 games and looks every bit a difference-maker in his new uniform.

Maple Leafs' Patrick Marleau: Working to click with linemates

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/29/17) Marleau has been skating with Nazem Kadri and Leo Komarov in the preseason, but Leafs coach Mike Babcock is not impressed with the trio, reports the Toronto Sun.

"That line has to be better," said Babs on Thursday. "That group can be way better, way quicker. That group has to find some chemistry and get going." Marleau and Kadri have been working hard to understand how to read each other and it has been a work in progress. Marleau likes space once he gets the puck in the corners and along the wall, so Kadri needs to back off, rather than get close in support. That's a shift away from what would be more standard for centermen. The trio will be kept together to start the season, but there is always a chance we'll see an experiment with Marleau beside Auston Matthews some day early in the season.

Maple Leafs' Patrick Marleau: Notches first preseason goal with new team

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/20/17) Marleau scored his first goal with Toronto in a 5-2 preseason loss to Ottawa on Tuesday.

The goal was classic Marleau. He used his hockey sense to jump on a puck traveling down the boards in the neutral zone to spring him for a partial breakaway before ripping one to the short side, under the bar. The play had to be an encouraging sight for the Leafs and their fans, as the 508-goal, 1,082-point man recently turned 38. Another positive to take away from the game was the fact that Marleau played more than 17 minutes, including 5:39 with the man advantage.

Maple Leafs' Patrick Marleau: No set linemates established yet

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/15/17) Marleau's linemates have not been predetermined by coach Mike Babcock, reports the Toronto Sun.

Babcock was asked about Marleau's linemates at Thursday's state of the union conversation with the Toronto media. "He's a good player, a good man, he can play with anyone," said Babs. "When we talked, I said, 'I don't have a clue who you are playing with, whether it's with (Nazem Kadri), (Auston Matthews) or (Tyler Bozak). They're all good. We'll figure that out over time.'" Marleau can skate well enough to play with Matthews and would be a nice two-way complement to Kadri. Either way, he's going to get opportunities to produce offense and a guaranteed role on the power play -- a win-win for fantasy owners seeking depth.
